Labor Day
A message from NATCA's President.
Sisters and brothers,
Today we honor our fellow brothers and sisters who have been so instrumental in the Labor movement over the past several decades. Their dedication, perseverance, and sacrifice has blessed us with laws, rights, and benefits we currently enjoy; it is their shoulders we stand on.
But we have also seen many of those hard fought benefits being taken away, and the rights that Unions and working people depend on disappearing. We have been living that existence for the past 24 months, as today marks the second anniversary of the FAA imposed work and pay rules.
But we are still here... We are still fighting for our rights. The FAA has thrown everything they can at us, but they have failed to divide us, fracture us, or diminish our passion and intensity to correct their Union busting actions.
On this Labor Day, remember our fallen brothers and sisters who honored us with the right to collectively bargain work place conditions, pay and benefits. It is now our turn to beat back the oppressive and egregious tactics of an anti Union, anti worker administration. It is now our responsibility to correct the wrong imposed on our membership and set the course for the future of our profession and all of Labor. Continue to hold your head high; remember that only we can change the course of our future, so we must continue to stay outraged and engaged.
Also say a prayer for our members and their families as they endure another natural disaster, hurricane Gustave. NATCA will be there to assist our brothers and sisters when the need arrises because we are all in this together!
Keep the Faith! Stay United! Together we cannot be beaten!
Happy Labor Day to all!
