Michigan Trip: Day 1
This trip has been a year in the planning. Finally, our departure date is here.
We left Toledo around 1030am for our first day's destination of Frankfort, Michigan.
We stopped for lunch at Cracker Barrel in East Lansing and checked the weather ahead. It looked like we were in for light rain between Grand Rapids and Muskegon. Unfortunately, the weather built; and we ran into a downpour just outside of Muskegon.
Of course, we hadn't put on rain gear because we thought that the rain would be light, so we were thoroughly soaked.
We geared up anyway and continued to Manistee. We stopped for coffee at Goody's Juice & Java to warm us up.
The rain that we had outrun was catching back up with us, so we hit the road again and pushed the rest of the way to Frankfort.
We checked into the Harbor Lights Resort and grabbed Perch Sandwiches from the Villa Marine Bar for dinner.
