This year, LCC sponsored the 4th Annual Detective Keith Dressel Memorial Ride. Detective Dressel was killed in the line of duty in February 2007. The proceeds from the ride is donated to the Miscannon Scholarship Fund at Owens Community College in Keith’s memory.
EZ and Johanna rode his new Sporty to Oscar Bunch Powertrain Park with me, and my neighbor Laura met us there.
After making a passenger seat assessment between EZ’s Sportster and my V Star 1300 Tourer, Johanna decided to ride with me.
There were 281 bikes on the ride through Toledo. We rode through some of the older parts of the city that I had never been through. The mood did turn somber when we rode through the neighborhood where he was shot. Police lined the street. Some waved and some saluted.
After the ride, we had hot dogs, nachos, and cookies while they drew tickets for door prizes. We didn’t win anything this year, but we did have a great time that benefitted a great cause.
It was an honor to memorialize one of Toledo’s Finest.
“Your brothers and sisters will take it from here…”
